This week's Math Trek, a mathematics, movement and photography game, is arranged by Laura Combs at the wonderful car shop called Frantz Automotive. Come play with us, explore Cary, grow your math eyes, and start noticing mathematics everywhere! We will have hands-on activities around the shop and chats with the shop people. When we went to check the place out, I learned a lot from the people in just half an hour, from the dangers of too little or too much precision in measurements to the history of hydraulics at the dawn of the industrial age in England.
The topic is "Math in the Machine" - from simple machines like levers to complex machines like hydraulic presses.
