Hello,
We had a very cold meeting yesterday, but people braved the weather and got a lot of math captured. It was surprisingly challenging to find inscribed shapes! We had to improvise some of our own. We also had fantastic discussions of what counts as "inscribed" and why. Do stars count (e.g. Mercedes trademark)? Can you inscribe a triangle into a rectangle? How many angles will a polygon have if it's inscribed into a square?
Our next meeting is indoors - at the North Carolina Museum of History. We meet in the lobby at 10am. If you are late or lost, call my cell
919-388-1721Please invite your kids to help with TAGS and STORIES (descriptions) on Flickr. Reflecting on your own awesome pictures is fun, and it promotes deeper mathematical understanding and better recall of ideas. That's the learning goal of every task.
