Hi Everyone!
My name is Japheth Wood. I'm a mathematician who works with math teachers. For the last five years, my day job has been in Bard College's Masters of Arts in Teaching Program, where I help prepare math teachers for their first years of teaching. My program is entirely housed inside of a NYC public school in the South Bronx.
I've also been heavily involved with the New York Math Circle, especially in organizing programming for math teachers. This summer we'll have our 3rd Math Circle Summer Workshop for Teachers: http://nymathcircle.org/2011workshop. Most of our participants are from NYC, but we've had teachers come in from all over the Hudson Valley and also from other states. If you're available the week of July 25-29, I'd love to welcome you to our workshop at Bard!

I'm also a founding organizer of the Bard Math Circle, which is growing to provide math enrichment for middle school students at libraries all around the Mid-Hudson Valley. My upcoming goal is to offer continuing education credit to the local math teachers who attend.
Very exciting to have this google group! I'll invite the teachers I work with to join!
