How to open .ggb files directly?

Hello everyone,
I have been in practice of opening the .ggb files the following way: First I open the folder containing the .ggb file I created or downloaded from the forum or elsewhere, then I point to the file and right click it, point to open with Geogebra. This is my chronic  practice so far I have never asked myself a question why am I doing so. Actually a file created under any program should open when its file icon containing its extension is clicked twice (double clicked), but when I do so, the .ggb file does not open: instead a dialogue box like something appears which contain .xml, png etc nonsense. This might be the case with many of you read this mail.
My question is: How to open the .ggb file directly without hinting it to open with its parent Software? Or , is there any chance that I have    installed Ubuntu wrongly? No Solution to this? What do programmers say about this?
This is my inquisitive question I want logical answer and an idea that prompts me to open the .ggb files directly, without any roundabouts.

Dear sir

the operating system keeps a link of the program(s) that can open a file, using the file extension.
so a .odt file will be opened through libreoffice when you doubleclick it

to make system create this link (when it is not there as in your case of .ggb), right click on file and select PROPERTIES
select OPEN WITH tab and in that select geogebra as default (SEE screenshot attached)

Thank you sir for the solution. I followed your suggestion. Now I can open the .ggb files directly by double clicking on the file Icon. I request all STF trainers to what configuration Mr. Gurumurthy asks us to do if are to open directly by double clicking the .ggb icon associated with file name.
