Install  geogebra5_5.0.151.0-43010_i386.deb on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS    [NEEDS TO DOWNLOAD 70mb T0 80mb OF DATA over internet including additional files]

To install on 64bit version (I used this on Kalpavriksha 14.04 LTS DVD)

Need to remove the previous version. Make sure that your system is capable of 3D rendering before installing this version of geogebra.

Just go to Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal

And then type: (Every next line after finishing each task. Provide your password when asked, then press enter)

sudo apt-get purge --remove geogebra 
sudo apt-get update 

wget http://www.geogebra.net/linux/pool/main/g/geogebra5/geogebra5_5.0.151.0-43010_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i geogebra5_5.0.151.0-43010_amd64.deb 
sudo apt-get -f install

To install on 32bit systems (For some with 32Bit or i386 version of Ubuntu system)

Just go to Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal

And then type (Every next line after finishing each task. Provide your password when asked, then press enter) :

sudo apt-get purge --remove geogebra 
sudo apt-get update 
wget http://www.geogebra.net/linux/pool/main/g/geogebra5/geogebra5_5.0.151.0-43010_i386.deb 
sudo dpkg -i geogebra5_5.0.151.0-43010_i386.deb 
sudo apt-get -f install


You will find Geogebra in Applications -> Education -> Geogebra

Thank you Jonson sir for giving idea for installing latest version of GeoGebra on Ubuntu 12.04.
I didn't write any code but simply removed the old version and installed the newer version you copied in to my pen drive.
There are many teachers in Udupi and DK, who love to use GeoGebra in the classroom, and your post would help them a lot.

I was using GeoGebra 5. 0.141 on windows, and it was working fine in the windows environment. I have created many apps for many of the topics and  enjoy working with the software.
