Dear friends,
I am attaching a 'converter' document which will convert the NUDI ASCII fonts (Nudi Akshara etc) to NUDI UNICODE (Tunga). The steps are provided in mail below. In case you have any difficulties or issues, please contact Shariff.

This should help convert all your work to UNICODE :-)   ... as our colleague Prasanna said "ಕನ್ನಡ ಬರೆಯುವು ಉಬಂಟುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯುವುದು ಸುಲಭ ಹಾಗು ಎಲ್ಲ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು
ಕಲಿಯಲು ಅನುಕುಲವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ" ... UBUNTU SCIM will allow us to create resources in all languages used in Karnataka, so lets use SCIM on Ubuntu, this automatically uses ONLY UNICODE so we wont have any problems....

If you have any problems using Ubuntu, let us know and we will help sort it out....

Dear friends

I am attaching a file for converting word documents with nudi NON unicode fonts to UNICODE.

Steps (pls check and confirm these, so we can give it as a small handout to all those who will use it)

a. copy this 'converter' document (Nudi Conversions.dot) to your computer
b. open this document
c. open your document which has non unicode font
d. select all text from  your document, copy and paste to the converter document
e. select the button 'nudi converter' on the converter document
f. select the required option for UNICODE conversion and click on select button
g. save the file as the new file with UNICODE font and make changes for re-use
h. Please read this new document carefully to ensure the changes are OK

For NEW documents, please use UNICODE font only - Tunga or Lohit Kannada. Let us use this converter a lot to test conversion of FONT, which will support us in moving to Ubuntu GNU/Linux
