Here's a run down of the money situation - it's abit lengthy so if your not interested don't bother reading on!
Total money in bank - £1609 (once teach first cough up; also inc. bake sale; not taking into account money banked for the ball)
IF WE GET 120 DINNER TICKETS SOLD:
Ball outgoings: £1636 - (outgoings inc sparkling wine reception, ceilidh band, dj @ £240, 3 bottles of wine on each table of 10)
Ball incomings -
Dinner tickets - (meals cost £30.60 so £1.4 profit for members/£6.4 profit for non-members): Estimations based on 60:60 members/non-mem and 50:70: between £450-£520
After-dinner tickets: approximate between 15-30 tickets at £5/£8: between £100-£200
Minimum profit: £550
ball outgoings-ball incomings = £1086 total left for us to pay on the ball
Total in bank - ball expenditure - money left for next year(£250) = £273 left to spend this semester!
IF WE GET 100 DINNER TICKETS SOLD:
Ball outgoings: £1438 (needing less bottles of sparkling wine they might charge us the full price which would be an extra £13)
Ball incomings:
Dinner tickets: Estimations based on 50:50 mem/non-mem: between £360-£390
After-dinner tickets: same as above (£100-£200)
Minimum incomings: £450
ball outgoings - ball incomings = £988 total left for us to pay on the ball
total in bank - ball expenditure - money left in for next year = £371 left to spend this semester!
Either way looks very decent! I was thinking we could comfortably spend £150-£170 on the jcmb quiz event, which would leave us anywhere between £100-£220 left. Having this amount left over would comfortably cover any sudden mass of members wanting to come to the ball which would decrease our ball profits. So depending on how tickets sales go and whether more non-members come to the ball than estimated then this amount could still largely increase. The more extra money we have for the ball the better as we could always spend the money on decorations or putting an extra bottle of wine (or two if we're extremely lucky) on the tables (sneaking a look at what the business ball are providing, they are providing guests with half a bottle of wine each on the table! Currently we're providing 3 between 10 so an extra 1 or 2 bottles would be fantastic given how expensive it will be for them to buy).
