I am running Gimp 2.8 on a Windows XP system.  I am running Gimp as a non-administrative user account.  But Gimp was installed while logged on as Administrator.

I downloaded the latest version of MathMap installer 1.3.5 from http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/schani/mathmap/ and ran it while logged on as Administrator.

After the install, there is no evidence of MathMap anywhere in Gimp.  The Filters->Generic menu does not show MathMap as an option.  Gimp was not running during the install.

Also, I noticed that the install wants to put it in the Documents & Settings\Administrator\.gimp 2.6 folder.  Shouldn't it be going to the .gimp 2.8 folder?  Also I am installing as Administrator but running gimp as a user.  I do not think the user will be able to access the Documents & Settings\Administrator\ path.  I tried pointing it to the Documents & Settings\UserName\.gimp 2.8  folder, but it looks like it still installed into the Documents & Settings\Administrator\.gimp 2.6 folder anyways.  At any rate, I installed it two times - once with the default settings and once with my settings.  Both attempts ended up the same - no evidence of it anywhere in Gimp.

Any help?

a. I left files installed in C:\Users\username\.gimp-2.6\mathmap where it was it was isntalled
b. added C:\Users\username\.gimp-2.8\mathmap to GIMP plugins path: Menu:  Edit : Prefrences: Folders: Plugins
c. moved C:\Users\username\.gimp-2.6\mathmap to C:\Users\username\.gimp-2.8\mathmap

It seems that MathMap installer 1.3.5 yet not updated  for GIMP 2.8

You can alternatively use GIMP 2.6 it works fine there...

the installer was not updated for gimp "2.8 BUT mathmap will work you just have to move the file installed by mathmap in the 2.6 folder in the analog places in the .gimp.2.8 folder

PS here you may also found a collection of additional MM filters (examples) http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4558
