I am a daily user of the Mathematics Stack Exchange forum and I noticed that on my MacBook, the math font looks is Times New Roman (or something very similar). This is true for any browser I try on my laptop, e.g. Chrome and Safari. However, I recently purchased a PC and noticed that the font MathJax uses is Computer Modern. Personnaly, I like the latter much, mure better when it comes to mathematical equations. Any ideas why it is so and how could I fix this so both platforms have Computer Modern as default font? Thank you for your help.

Hi,

MathJax will prefer locally installed copies over downloading webfonts. Safari ships with the STIX fonts which MathJax will use (the "Times New Roman" you describe). You can install the MathJax TeX fonts (which are derived from CM) on your system and then MathJax will prefer those over the locally installed STIX fonts.

Regards,
Peter.
