Hi,

I have a question that can I use "stretchy equal sign"? The TeX I want is similar to:

\overset{\rm top}{\underset{\rm bottom}{\rm =}}

while you can see the equal sign is very short. Since the texts above and below the equation could be very long, my question is can I "stretchy" the equal sign? Or is there any way else to keep the texts beth above and below the equal sign?

Thanks!

Best,
Zhaoyu

The \overset and \underset macros in LaTeX do not stretch their
operands to match each other, and so they don't in MathJax either.

On the other hand, there is \xlongequal in the extpfeil extension, so
you can add "extpfeil.js" to the extensions array in the TeX block of
your configuration, and then

\xlongequal[\rm bottom]{\rm top}

will do what you are looking for. If you don't want to change the
configuration (or can't), then

\require{extpfeil}
\xlongequal[\rm bottom]{\rm top}

will do it.
