Rendering in moodle quiz using form input

Hello,
I am trying to create a quiz in moodle which involves fractions, using FormInput extension. while I am creating the question it seems fine but in the question preview I am not getting desired result

It looks like moodle is converting the {1:NM:=5} into an <input> element of its own, and so the math contains an HTML element, and MathJax won't process that.  Perhaps you need to use \{1:NM:=5\} instead to prevent moodle from making its substitution (just a guess).  

Also, why is the = places outside of math mode?  Why not replace \)=\( with just =?
