Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on upgrading MathJax from version 3.x to version 4. When I previously upgraded from version 2 to version 3, I found an article that provided clear and helpful guidance. (Upgrading from v2 to v3 — MathJax 3.2 documentation)

I'm wondering if there is a similar resource or article available for upgrading to version 4. If not, could anyone share some pointers or key considerations for a smooth transition to version 4? Any advice or best practices would be greatly appreciated!

MathJax v4 is currently in beta release, and the documentation is being updated in preparation for the official release, though not yet available to the public.

Version 4 works very much the same as version 3 from a configuration standpoint, so unless you have done a lot of customization, or are using MathJax in a node application with direct calls to the MathJax modules, you should be able to use essentially the same configuration you were in v3.  One thing that is different, however, is that the "-full" versions of the combined components have been removed, so if you were using one of those, you should remove the "-full" from the MathJax file you are loading.

The details about what is changing are in the release notes for the various alpha and beta versions of MathJax v4.  You can see them at

and
https://github.com/mathjax/MathJax-src/releases/tag/4.0.0-beta.7

When v4 is officially released, there will be a upgrading document for moving from v3 to v4.

I hope that helps.

Davide
