Hello,
I am a new user.

There is the number 54,000.  It currently reads it as "54 comma zero zero zero".  It would be better if it would say, "54 thousand", and then read the characters with the arrow keys in the Math Jax window.

Thank you for any tips or suggestions.

If you are entering your numbers in TeX format, you should use

54{,}000

for the number, as you would in actual TeX.  If you leave off the braces, the number will be treated as two numbers separated by a comma, and the spacing will be incorrect.  This is how TeX works, so this is the correct output from the screen reader for the input that you have entered.
