MathJax v4.0.0-beta.4 now available

The MathJax team is placed to announce the release of v4.0.0-beta.4 of MathJax.  This is the second beta release of version 4 of MathJax (beta.1 and beta.2 had issues with the release process). This is mostly a bug fix release. The main improvements are the following:

• Some issues arose with the move to ESM modules and ES6 versions of the javascript code. These caused some TeX extension packages to fail to load; these have been fixed in this beta release.

• A problem where Mathjax could produce an error setting getter-only property "Package" during its processing of the MathJax configuration has been resolved.

• An issue where the equation, equation*, displaymath, and math LaTeX environments would produce an error about incorrectly nested environments, regardless of their content, has been fixed.

• An issue where the \text{} macro would produce an error message when the textmacros package is used in beta.3 has been fixed.

• Line breaking for in-line math has been improved to avoid extra line breaks that could cause unexpected blank lines.

Additional issues fixed by, and new features provided in, this release are described in the release notes.

Please report issues to the MathJax issue tracker, and be sure you indicate that they are for v4.0.0.

Sorry, I forgot that not everyone is familiar with how this is done.  The URL for using TeX and MathML input with CommonHTML output from jsdelivr.net is

https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/mat...@4.0.0-beta.4/tex-mml-chtml.js

Of course, you can use tex-html.js, tex-svg.js, mml-html.js, etc., in place of tex-mml-chtml.js depending on your needs.

For those using the mathjax-full package with npm, I forgot to update the version number for the mathjax-modern-font in the package.json file, so you will need to do

npm install mathja...@4.0.0-beta.4

npm install mathjax-m...@4.0.0-beta.4

to get the correct font version.  Without the second line, you will get a warning about versions not matching, but things should still work, as the font format hasn't changed between the versions, so you can ignore the warning if you get it.  But loading the correct version of mathjax-modern-font should eliminate the warning.
