MathJax 3.x API anywhere?

Hi Everyone,

We just started playing with MathJax. In addition to displaying with math expressions on our webpages, we'd also like to create some interactives with it, such as highlighting or changing background color of part of a math expression when clicking on it. Can you do it?

Is there any sample example anywhere? Is there any API doc anywhere? The following API doc page still says "under construction":

Is there anything that can help us get the "interactive programming" started?
