color in inline math

The \color command works nice in display math.

However, it does not seem to work in inline math, and it actually blocks the inline math from being rendered.

For instance,
Observer with parameters \( \color{NavyBlue}{\lambda} \geq 0\)
does not render math, while
Observer with parameters \[ \color{NavyBlue}{\lambda} \geq 0\]
renders math with the appropriate color.


Is it a bug or a feature?

I am not able to reproduce your issue.  Can you give a minimal (non)-working example?  Or a link to a page exhibiting the problem?

I'm wondering if the CSS on your page may be interfering with the coloring.
