creating number lines with MathJax

Is it possible to load a package with MathJax that will allow you to create a number line?

I have tried the answer here: http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/67991/labeled-number-line

The answer at the bottom says you can make a number line without and extra packages, but I cannot get that to work.

MathJax does not support the LaTeX \begin{picture}...\end{picture} environment, so the solution suggested in the stackexchange discussion won't work. I would suggest you look at using XYJax, which incorporates MathJax into pictures generated by XYPic. Here is a link:

There are some other graphing options that work with MathJax as well, such as JSXGraph, but I think XYJax is probably best suited to your needs.
