I'm a complete newbie with MathJax - sorry for my ignorant question.
I'd like to install MathJax locally and system wide on a standalone Linux box - but I don't understand how.
I've checked out http://docs.mathjax.org/en/latest/installation.html but I have to admit that I don't get the message from that page.

Downloading and even installing local fonts for Firefox is not my problem - I did that - my problem is, that once I have downloaded, what do I do then?
On the installation page it says:
"....Once the MathJax directory is unpacked, you should move it to the desired location on your server (or your hard disk, if you are using it locally rather then through a web server). One natural location is to put it at the top level of your web server’s hierarchy..."

So my question is: what does the preceding statement imply on a Laptop running Linux with a Firefox browser and the intent to use the local MathJax primarily from within IPython notebooks and by more than one user?

Thanks for helping.
Xaver

Hi Xaver,

This depends a lot on your system and application. So since you're interested in iPython particulary, I would suggest to look at their documentation at http://ipython.org/ipython-doc/dev/install/install.html#mathjax

Regards,
Peter.
