## Status update v3
* 3.0.0-alpha.2 is out!
* stretchy character problems fixed in IE, Firefox
* updated operator dictionary
* HTML-CSS: looking into alignment issues in stretchy pieces
* turns out the glyphs are not really straight (due to tracing CM bitmaps) which is accumulating in large stretchy constructions
### Discussion
* TeX input: future of extensions
* Volker: we are looking for volunteers who want to start implementing new extensions
* this will help us develop a new extension mechanism thorouhgly
* Peter: count me in for \img
* Matias: is mhchem an option? I'd be interested.
* Peter: Martin Hensel already checked in with us. ACTION I'll try to put you in touch.
* Davide: mhchem one might actually be easier as it has its own parser and generates a TeX string.
* Jason: first steps of integrating v3 as a modern Jupyter plugin.
* => filed issue on fonts not being picked up by webpack
* would help to have the fontface declarations not dynamically injected
* Davide: it's now possible to compile the fontface css out.
* Jason: great, then our Jupyter extension could generate that in which should be enough
* Jason: do the fonts change depending on the configuration?
* Davide: not at the moment. It's set up dynaically because eventually you will again have choices for fonts
* Davide: cf. issue on CSS structure
* right now we're not optimizing CSS much in terms of size (i.e. always dump the full file into the page)
* some natural improvements will arrive as we fix some issues in the fonts
* other improvements could come in the code if desireable (e.g., create critical css, split stylesheets)
* Jason: do we expect the fonts be selected by author or user?
* => the author
* Jason: good. then webpack-ing should always work out
* Davide: side note: one goal is to make it easier to modify fonts on character basis
* e.g., replace 4 with an open one for primary ed (legal requirement in education)
* ACTION: Davide will build example that shows how to compile that out.
* [discussion around build problems, mj3demos]
### Next steps
* review open PRs to consolidate
* API documentation
* v3 issues labeled "discussion" => PLEASE COMMENT
## a11y extensions release
* Volker: incoming release for a11y extensions
* new table walker with better semantics and navigation
* Volker: the first localization (Spanish) is also incoming thanks to Texthelp support
