As regards "freeware", I prefer to think "Free Software" which has the
four freedoms (
http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html ). By
contrast, freeware is often/usually proprietary with a copyright
restricting the "free" to distribution of the as-is program. There's no
option to improve and expand which is available with free software
(sometimes called "open source").
