Hello Sue,

I understand what you're facing and what you're asking about.   Like you, I'm not positive about "Tex Point" add-in.
When I do this though, I use Microsoft's Equation Editor / MathType.   However, when iSpring converts to Flash, the equation is converted to an image, then used just like any other image.

The problem with uploading something like that to AuthorStream (or any other service), is that AuthorStream's server must have the conversion add-in as well.  I seriously doubt this to be available.

Here is a link to an example that I've created for my curriculum.
http://robertfant.com/Geometry/PowerPoint/Chapter2/2_5/

All LaTex / math symbols are converted to an image (on my desktop).  In other words, if you downloaded the "swf" file, you would (no longer) find any LaTex, MathML, etc, embedded.   Of course I'm not positive, but I can't help but believe that iSpring will do the same in your situation.

iSpring Free is simple to add to PPT, and may be well worth evaluating.   [I am not a share-holder if iSpring, I promise  :) ]

    Hi Sue

MathJax may be the best way to go.

When he exports the slides as HTML, is the LaTeX preserved? If so, he could
make the necessary segment changes in the resulting code and use one of the
HTML-based slide viewer systems that incorporate MathJax.

This is an example of one of the most appropriate solutions, since it
allows for coordination with an MP3 narration file:

    Hope it helps.

Thanks to everyone who has sent suggestions:

1)@Melissa (re: Prezi) & @Robert (re: iSpring) -- I think the problem will be the same as I had yesterday when I uploaded to Authorstream. I tried uploading from a computer that had the plugin, but the the special formatting was not preserved. I can only assume that there's some code inserted into the PPT when creating equations using TexPoint that signals any other computer with the TexPoint plugin installed to display the mathematical formatting when the PPT file is opened.

If the slides were still, I'd suggest to my friend that he export them all as jpegs and create a new show using images. Because he's used all sorts of animations to reveal new lines when the slide is clicked, that's not an option.

    2) @Mokurai & Murray (re: code suggestions) -- I'm not sure how to see the code behind a PPT. I am looking that up now to see if I can make one of these work.

I use "iSpring" (and there is a free version,) for this same purpose. It
converts beautifully. However, I am not sure about the "tech point" plugin
    you mention.

If you want to send me one of these PowerPoints, I would convert and upload
it so you could see how it works.
Otherwise, maybe go to their website, (http://www.ispringsolutions.com),
download iSpring Free (a PPT add-in), and give it a whirl.

I would be interested in seeing some of his work, and to know how this
    project turns out.

    Hope you make progress,
