The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the Association of MathematicsTeacher Educators (AMTE) are seeking Editorial leadership applications for Mathematics TeacherEducator (MTE). Applications are due by October 1, with activity beginning May 2027, first asEditor-Designate (training and preparation), then becoming the Editor of record a year later.

Editors and Editorial Team

The work of MTE Editorial Office is more than a one-person undertaking. As a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal, the MTE Editorial Panel and current MTE team of Editors, Allyson Hallman-Thrasher, Amber Candela, and Rachael Eriksen Brown, strongly recommend that interestedapplicants build a team of colleagues to approach the work, sharing and structuring responsibilitiesin a way which recognizes everyone’s contributions.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Be a member of both the NCTM and AMTE.
  • Have a clear understanding of the goals and mission of the journal and agree to maintainthem.
  • Have previous experience with scholarly/practitioner journals as an editor; member ofeditorial panel or board; editor of a department; or other substantive editorial experience.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the commitment and resources needed to support theeditorial processes.
  • Be well-versed in practices and issues of mathematics teacher education, including thepreservice preparation of teachers of mathematics and professional development.
Candidates should submit their completed applications via email to Susan Auslander atvppubl...@amte.net no later than October 1, 2026. Finalists will participate in a Zoominterview with members of the MTE panel. Final selection is scheduled for early 2027.
