to Mathematics Education Researchers (MER) community

Dear colleagues,

We are organizing a special session on “Engaging Mathematics Learners with AI II: New Frontiers in Teaching, Learning, and Research” at the upcoming Joint Mathematics Meetings in Chicago, IL. The meeting will take place January 12–15, 2027, and our session will meet on Tuesday, January 12, 2027, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

We would like to invite members of this community whose work relates to artificial intelligence, mathematics teaching and learning, or mathematics education research to give a 20-minute talk in our session. We would also appreciate it if you could share this invitation with colleagues who may be interested.

The meeting website is:
https://jointmathematicsmeetings.org/jmm

To help us with planning, please let us know at your earliest convenience if you are interested in participating, but no later than August 23, 2026. Please also let us know of any constraints on when you would be available to speak.

Each speaker must submit an abstract before a talk can be scheduled. Abstracts must be submitted electronically through the AMS portal:
https://meetings.ams.org/math/jmm2027/cfp.cgi

The deadline for abstract submission is midnight Eastern Time on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. This is a hard deadline that cannot be extended, and we strongly encourage speakers to submit their abstracts at least one week in advance.

Please note that all attendees are required to register for the meeting. The AMS does not cover faculty travel expenses, although graduate students may be eligible for travel funding. Childcare grants are also available for JMM attendees.

We hope you will consider joining us and would greatly appreciate your help sharing this opportunity with others who may be interested.

Best wishes,

Technology Educator Alliance
