The Weatherton Lab at Louisiana State University (LSU) is recruiting postdoctoral scholars and Ph.D. students interested in studying how undergraduate students use resources in STEM higher education.

Have you ever wondered why some students never attend office hours? Whether certain resources are more helpful for certain groups of students? How students choose among digital tools, like online forums, YouTube videos, or AI chat bots? If any of these questions spark your interest, you might be a great fit for the lab!

 

Postdoctoral position – ideal start Spring 2026

We are seeking a postdoctoral scholar to lead the development of a tool that reliably surveys students’ perceptions of academic resources.

  •  Salary: $65,000 annually plus benefits (healthcare, retirement, etc.).
  • Preferred start date: Spring 2026

Ph.D. positions – starting Fall 2026

We are seeking up to two Ph.D. students to join the lab in Fall 2026 through the Biological Sciences graduate program at LSU.

  • Ph.D. students receive a tuition waiver and a 9-month stipend, with guaranteed summer funding provided by the PI.
  • No GRE scores or writing samples are required for application to the graduate program.
  • Application fee waivers are available for eligible students.
