The College Mathematics Instructor Development Source (CoMInDS) provides support to faculty who offer professional development to the next generation of college mathematics instructors. We are excited to announce TWO workshop opportunities for Summer 2025.
Designing Professional Development Programs for Graduate Teaching Assistants (virtual, Jully)The CoMInDS team will offer this virtual workshop in collaboration with MAA OPEN Math on July 8, 9, 10, & 15, from 11am-5pm ET. This workshop will provide guidance on the design of mathematics department-based professional development programs about teaching for graduate students. Each day will include approximately 4 hours of synchronous activities, plus roughly two hours per day for participants to work on the design of their departmental programming with support from the CoMInDS team. At the workshop, participants will:
experience professional learning activities
gain familiarity with research and evaluation related to teaching and instructor preparation
gain access to a large collection of professional development lessons, activities, and assignments to use in your program
network with others who run professional development for teaching programs
Departments are encouraged to send two-person teams to the workshop.

Leadership in Teaching-Focused Professional Learning (in-person, June)The CoMInDS team will offer this NEW in-person workshop at the University of Maine on June 25, 26, & 27. This workshop is designed for experienced providers of professional development who are interested in expanding their capacity to initiate, run, and sustain change efforts related to teaching-focus professional learning and/or are interested in developing leadership knowledge and skills for this type of work. At the workshop, participants will:
gain knowledge and skills to embark on and sustain change efforts
gain capacity for scholarly work related to design, evaluation and research into teaching-focus professional learning
learn about research into change efforts and leadership
network with others who are engaged with this area of work
This opportunity includes the three-day workshop in June plus on-going involvement during the 2025-26 academic year to work collaboratively on teaching-focused professional learning projects. Costs for registration, accommodations and meals during the workshop will be covered. Support to cover travel expenses is also available.
