Research Excellence Postdoctoral Fellows Program
The Research Excellence Postdoctoral Fellows Program is a centrally supported program to fund 100 new two-year postdoctoral appointments over two cohorts. Cost-shared with divisions, the initiative aims to boost research capacity and support early-career scholars in advancing an independent research program. The program is designed to attract the highest-quality researchers globally – top domestic and international emerging scholars who demonstrate exceptional promise in their fields and the potential to have positive impact at UofT.
This year, the Research Excellence Postdoctoral Fellows Program at UTSC will engage three exceptional postdoctoral fellows conducting research under the supervision of a UTSC faculty.

Award Overview
- UTSC Notice of Intent: Jan 9, 2026, via MS form (submitted by UTSC supervisor)
- UTSC Nomination Deadline: Feb 11, 2026, the UTSC Graduate and Postdoc Dropbox.
- Value and Duration: $80,000 per year for up to two years of postdoctoral research, plus an additional $10,000 in annual independent research funding
- Required Legal Status: Domestic or International
- Results: late-March
- Fellowship start date: between May 1, 2026 and January 15, 2027
