We are pleased to invite you to two days filled with inspiring talks, lectures and seminars from a Nordic perspective, aimed at adult educators in mathematics and vocational subjects with a mathematical element.


Date: 21-22 November 2024

Location: University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg

Mathematical skills and competences are an essential prerequisite for adults' active participation in society as well as a prerequisite for connection to working life and access to education.

At the conference, speakers from large parts of the Nordic region will present areas that are central to adults' mathematics learning. In addition to inspiring speakers, participants will have the opportunity to participate in optional seminars and mingling.

The conference will focus on the following themes/questions:

  1. Adult education in the Nordic region: What does it look like and what are the current challenges? What can we learn from each other?
  2. Mathematics skills: Which are needed from different perspectives and how are they connected to vocational training and working life?
  3. AI and Mathematics education: What significance will AI have for future mathematics education?
  4. Validation, assessment and mapping: What is happening in these areas?
  5. Mathematics didactics: What are the current areas for adult learning

Purpose of the conference:

  • Gain knowledge about current issues around adults' mathematics learning
  • Get the opportunity to exchange experiences with teachers and school leaders from the other Nordic countries
  • Get inspiration and ideas for your teaching

Practical information

Working methods:  The conference offers varied working methods with a focus on self-reflection and activity.

Target group:  Teachers of mathematics and vocational subjects, school leaders, study and vocational guidance counselors, teacher educators and others with an interest in the content of the conference.

Conference languages: English and Scandinavian

Registration fee:  DKK 650 (approx. SEK 1000)
