UNESCO’s International Institute for STEM Education calls for experts to help shape global agenda on STEM education.

Background

The UNESCO International Institute for STEM Education (IISTEM) (https://www.iistem.unesco.org/en, established as a Category I Institute, is mandated to promote inclusive, equitable and quality education for all in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) from early childhood to adulthood.

Call for experts

IISTEM calls for international experts to contribute to the implementation of programmes of the Institute under six value streams: Global Standards; STEM Education Policy; STEM Learning Ecosystems; STEM Education Workforce; Inclusion, Equity and Gender Equality ; and Digital and AI Transformation of STEM Education.

UNESCO may invite a selected number of experts to join IISTEM’s groups of internation experts in STEM education and may contract the qualified experts to contribute to the drafting of frameworks, preparations of working papers, authoring of reports, analytical works, development of training programmes, or R&D of digital/AI systems.

Required profile

IISTEM calls for experts with at least one of the following competencies or experiences:

· Established international expertise in STEM education, with a proven track record of authoring high-quality scholarly publications that have contributed to advancing knowledge and practice in the field, preferably, being validated by high citations.

· At least five years of experience of working on major practical projects on STEM education with proven novelty, significant effects on target audience, and/or transformative impact of the project(s).

· Combined competencies and experience in developing policies on STEM education, training programmes for STEM teachers, or STEM curricula for students with the link to the policy documents, programmes or curricula as well as evidence of the impact.

· Context-adaptive competencies to conceptualize, design, develop, test, and deploy human-centred digital or AI systems or applications for STEM education with documented validation of ethical compliance and pedagogical appropriateness of the AI system/application.
