Doctoral student in theoretical philosophy with a focus on epistemology or philosophy of science
Project description
This PhD position is jointly funded by and related to two ongoing research projects at the department: “Between knowledge and ignorance: epistemic possibilities in inquiry” led by Ylwa Sjölin Wirling, and “Reconsidering social demarcation” led by Jack Wright. In this particular call, we therefore welcome applications within epistemology and/or philosophy of science, broadly construed. We especially welcome projects related to one or more of the following subject areas (though projects on other topics in epistemology or philosophy of science will also be considered): aim(s) of inquiry, aim(s) of science and the demarcation of science, epistemology of disagreement, epistemology of expertise, epistemology of scientific modeling, epistemology of understanding, intellectual virtues and vices, metaphilosophy, norms of inquiry and its social conditions, philosophy of the social sciences (including economics), political epistemology, political philosophy of science, social epistemology.
