In an era where data-driven models and AI shape decisions across society, future math teachers need advanced Statistical Literacy to teach how to critically assess uncertainty, question algorithms, and work with real data. Yet many teachers feel insecure teaching these topics. Join us to bridge this gap through open, interdisciplinary data projects in teacher education!

I'm seeking a motivated PhD candidate for a 4-year, 75% position starting May 1, 2026 (or later; part-time school teaching possible). Supervised by Sarah Schönbrodt (main, Universität Salzburg), Steffen Schneider (Munich Center for Machine Learning & KI macht Schule), and Arne Bathke (Universität Salzburg).

Location: University of Salzburg
Duration: 4 years, 75%
Focus: Statistical/Data Literacy in the Age of AI; research on the design of modular "skill tree" materials for teacher training and project-based learning in schools

Your Profile
- Master's in Math/CS teacher education or math/stats/data science/AI
- Passion for math education and/or education technology research on statistical/data literacy
- Team-oriented with teaching experience & strong German and English
