We are delighted to welcome you to ETC 22 on Communication and Diversity in Mathematics Education: Exploring Language, Meaning Making and Methodologies. This conference brings together research on the role of language and interaction in learning and teaching mathematics, spanning early years to university, as well as pre-service teacher education and professional development.

Our theme emphasises:

• Communication and meaning making – language as both medium and message, alongside other semiotic resources.
• Diversity – valuing heterogeneity as a resource for learning and recognising differences across educational settings.
• Methodologies – reflecting the rich variety of theoretical perspectives and research methods shaping current work in the field.
