The European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant supports outstanding researchers who are establishing their independent career and are ready to pursue ambitious, curiosity-driven frontier research. Open to all scientific disciplines and research topics, the programme provides funding to build a research team and develop groundbreaking ideas.

What are the key eligibility aspects?

• Researchers of any nationality
• PhD successfully defended within the 10 years preceding 1 January 2027 (extensions may apply under certain circumstances)
• Strong track record demonstrating excellent research achievements and potential for scientific independence
• A ground-breaking, ambitious research project hosted by an institution in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country
