Dear colleagues,


I am pleased to share the first announcement for the 2026 International Conference of Joint Societies for Mathematics Education, to be held from November 13 to 15, 2026, at Seoul National University of Education, Seoul, Korea.


Under the theme “Reimagining Mathematics: Humanizing, Relevant, Cultural and Empowering Learning for All,” this conference aims to bring together researchers, teacher educators, and practitioners to engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of mathematics education in an era of rapid digital and societal transformation.


The program will feature:

  • Plenary lectures by leading scholars including Elham Kazemi, Julia Aguirre, and Namgyun Kim
  • Invited lectures from an international group of researchers (including Jennifer Suh, Qiaoping Zhang, Kotaro Komatsu, Da Zhou, Sunyoung Han, and Yujin Lee)
  • A variety of sessions such as roundtables, in-depth discussions, workshops, and paper presentations (Korean and international sessions)
  • Special events including a Math Tour at the National Museum of Korea, a session on Research Ethics & AI, and opportunities for K-Math and cultural collaboration


Important deadlines:

  • Abstract submission:August 28, 2026
  • Full paper submission:September 11, 2026
  • Registration period:August 1 – November 1, 2026


Selected proceedings will be published with World Scientific, providing an additional opportunity for scholarly dissemination.


We warmly invite you to join us in Seoul to exchange ideas, share research, and collaboratively explore how mathematics education can be reimagined to better serve all learners.
