to Mathematics Education Researchers (MER) community
Undergirding the coordinated design for RRE 2026 and 2028 is the argument that syntheses of evidence from diverse approaches to research are vital for furthering the kind of knowledge that enables sustainable change in complex educational systems. Systematic reviews support the development of evidence syntheses that are methodologically explicit and accountable for the knowledge they produce. For RRE 2026, which focuses on systematic review methods, the editors are seeking proposals for critical comparisons of existing methods and for methodological extensions and innovations that broaden the range of purposes that can be served or the types of evidence that can be incorporated. This will lay groundwork for RRE 2028, when the editors will invite systematic reviews that can illuminate how different components of educational systems can interact to enable and constrain sustainable change in addressing focal problems or learning opportunities.
Please see here for the full call for 2026 and information on how to submit.
The editors will review proposals and invite authors to prepare manuscripts based on the overall objectives of the volume and the promise of each proposed work. Proposals are due September 30, 2025. The editors anticipate notifying authors who are invited to submit manuscripts by October 30, 2025. Invited authors will be expected to submit a full deidentified manuscript by February 28, 2026, for peer review, with feedback anticipated before May 30, 2026. Revised manuscripts, responding to reviewers’ and editors' comments, will be due by August 1, 2026, to allow for final decisions and publication in fall 2026.
All inquiries should be submitted to RREe...@aera.net with 2026 RRE in the subject line.
