This group is for questions related to the 5 year integrated MSc in Applied Mathematics at IIT Roorkee only. 

Questions related to other colleges/courses are not meant to be here. 

For general advice on whether maths is right for you, post on websites like quora or speak to people you know personally. 

Questions that are answered in this post will not be replied to.

About the course: You can find the program structure and the syllabus of the course here. The program consists of courses in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and some computer science related courses, in addition to institute introductory courses in some engineering disciplines and humanities. You will also perform one semester project, a seminar and a final year dissertation. 

FAQs:

Q: Does the 'MSc' put me at a disadvantage as compared to 'MTech' or 'BTech'?
A: No.

Q: How good are the courses/faculty?
A: There's a range. Some courses are really good and others aren't.

Q: My rank is X. Will I get Applied Maths at IITR?
A: We do not know. 

Q: Is Applied Maths at IITR better than X at IITZ? 
A: We do not know. 

Q: How are the placements?
A: Usually the branch performs better than most other branches at IITR. The links below answer this question, and others in more detail.

Hello Rushil,

It is good that you are taking lead in replying to questions. 

This template is quite appropriate. Is it possible to set auto reply to emails with this template?

I'd tried this last year when we were flooded with queries. 

While we can set up autoreply, it is a bit spammy because it would reply to everyone in the group and not just the person who posted. So I thought this was a better solution.
