WWE 2K15 is a professional wrestling video game developed by Yuke's and published by 2K for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It is the sequel to WWE 2K14, and was succeeded by WWE 2K16. It was released on October 28, 2014, in North America and on October 31, 2014, in Europe for last generation consoles and released on November 18, 2014, in North America and on November 21, 2014, in Europe for current generation consoles. It was released for Microsoft Windows on April 28, 2015, and was the first WWE game to be released on the platform since WWE Raw, which was released in 2002.[2][3] It is the first game in the series to use the new WWE logo since it was introduced earlier in 2014, which was originally used as the logo of the WWE Network.
WWE 2K15 signifies as the start of a "new generation", which focuses on turning the franchise into a true wrestling game rather than "a fighting game with WWE Superstars in it." The new chain wrestling mini-game has been implemented (exclusive to current generation consoles and PC only) to make matches play out more realistically. Pressing the grapple button at the beginning of the match will initiate a collar-and-elbow tie up. At the beginning of the tie up, each opponent will press one of three face buttons to place their opponent into a side headlock, a wrist lock or a waist lock with a rock-paper-scissors style outcome. (Headlock beats Wrist lock, Wrist lock beats Waist lock, Waist lock beats Headlock.) Whoever wins will place their opponent in the corresponding hold, while both players rotate the right analog stick (space + movement keys on PC) to find a "sweet spot". If the attacker finds it first, they'll perform a move, if the defender finds it first, they'll gain the upper hand. Additionally, the attacking wrestler can strike or wrench the opponent's limb, making it harder for them to find the sweet spot. This mini-game only happens 2-3 times during the match and can be turned off via the options menu. Strikes have returned to their normal speed, with the improved collision and selling animations from the opponent. Unlike in previous games, superstars will not stand up immediately, after taking a bump or slam.
Several features that were present in previous games like: Story Designer, Create-A-Finisher and Custom Soundtracks were removed from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions for unknown reasons nor are they present on next gen consoles though Create-A-Diva, Paint Tool, Create-A-Championship & Create-An-Arena are still available on last gen.
A version of the game for mobile devices, developed by n-Space, was released for Android and iOS on April 16, 2015.[21] 2K called it the "first simulation-based WWE video game for mobile devices".[22] The mobile version features 10 playable superstars, three match types, full entrances & move sets, create a superstar, live multiplayer and a career mode.[23] In July 2015, an update was released that improved controls and responsiveness.[24]
IGN gave the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions a 5.9 out of 10, saying: "WWE 2K15 is like seeing Brock Lesnar going from breaking The Undertaker's streak to losing to Hornswoggle during the pre-show in back-to-back WrestleManias. Not only is it surprising, it's also pretty sad. I would frequently grab my copy of last year's grappler with the intent to quickly check some changes, only to find myself reluctant to switch back due to the far better roster and single-player experience. Do yourself a favor, save your money, and buy WWE 2K14. The minor improvements to combat and commentary in 2K15 don't even come close to making up for what was lost."[40] Game Informer gave the game a 7 out of 10, stating "This version of WWE 2K15 works if you're not planning on buying a new-gen console anytime soon... Custom creators, on the other hand, might as well continue to build up their creations on 2K14.[35]
Pocket Gamer gave the mobile version a 7 out of 10, commenting that it is "a pretty solid experience, and it flourishes the deeper you get into it", while criticizing the price of the game.[45] Gamezebo rated it 3.5 out of 5 stars, praising the graphics, multiplayer and controls but lamenting the overall lack of content.[46] Technology Tell gave the album a "D" rating, calling it "a lazy, unresponsive, and completely shallow experience"[47] 148 Apps gave a 4 out of 5 stars rating and called the game "surprisingly complex".[48] Game Informer stated the game is "a bare-bones, yet mechanically functional mobile title" and said it laid down a good groundwork for the next game.[49]
Professional wrestling, with its loony theatrics, ridiculous speeches, and acts of over-the-top violence, makes for excellent video game adaptations. Several incredibly fun games have appeared over the years, including the Nintendo 64's WCW/nWo Revenge and GameCube's WWE Day of Reckoning 2. Unfortunately, wrestling games haven't improved much since then, as shown by 2K's WWE 2K15 ($59.99), which is available on PlayStation 4 ($799.95 at Amazon) , Xbox One ($200.00 at eBay) , and last-gen consoles. While WWE 2K15 has the famous brand and many of the familiar faces, its boring gameplay, lack of standard features, and numerous other flaws render this match a double disqualification.
Even though the game doesn't look nearly as good as it does on the PS4/Xbox One, it looks quite high-end as a mobile title. With graphics that look like a late-era PS1 / early-era PS2 title, the presentation, both audial and visual, is satisfactory and is by far the biggest strength of this game.
As a mobile game, NBA 2K15 utilizes a virtual controller located on the bottom two corners of the iPhone's screen. Not only does this mean the user's thumb is covering part of the scene, it is also causes a bit of a lag between. The lag is most noticeable when twitch-type controls are employed -- something that happens a number of times during pretty much every game played.
Also, the game is quite limited in its play options. Initially, only Quick Game and MyCareer is available with other modes,such as Season, locked out. MyCareer -- a highlight in the console version -- is not only extremely difficult (partly due to the game's lackluster controls and player stamina issues), it's also stripped down in terms of features and settings.
NBA 2K15 promises to deliver the most true-to-life NBA experience yet on mobile by capturing popular gameplay modes highlighting both the on-court and off-court excitement of the console version of the game. Featuring NBA MVP Kevin Durant and an eclectic soundtrack curated by internationally-renowned artist and producer Pharrell Williams, NBA 2K15 hits the court with vastly improved graphics, ultra-realistic NBA gameplay, and more.
As announced last week, the PC edition of WWE 2K15 will offer the same experience as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions, which were originally released last year. The game is also available on last-generation consoles, including the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
NBA 2K15 Mobile is now released and the game is now available on the Apple iOS App Store as well as on various Amazon Fire devices. The game is priced at $8 USD. The mobile version of NBA 2K15 was developed by Visual Concepts -- the same studio responsible for the development of the console version.
It features enhanced graphics and player animations, original soundtrack and new controller support. The mobile version includes both quick play and the full MyCareer mode. The console version has seen some major upgrades including face scan, more voices and much more. The critics have also acknowledged NBA 2K15's beautiful graphics and smooth controls. A similar response is expected for the mobile version as well.
WWE 2K15 does offer more than merely a better-looking version of its last-generation counterpart. But it fails to fix legacy problems, and its efforts to try something new are largely unsuccessful. This package might have been acceptable, or at least understandable, as a new-generation launch title. But one year into the new console generation, WWE 2K15 is a disappointing effort that makes for a shaky foundation going forward.
This 13-minute WWE 2K15 Royal Rumble for shows off some of the new game, but there is a wait for the WWE 2K15 PS4 and Xbox One release that should deliver better looking gameplay for the newest consoles.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 WWE 2K15 release arrives on October 28th in the U.S. and on October 31st internationally. IN September 2K Sports announced a delayed release for the newest consoles. At this point the Xbox One and PS4 WWE 2K15 release date remains on track for November 18th.
This is not the same as the MyCareer mode for Xbox 360 or PS3, but with the opportunity to take five superstars up against other top wrestlers including John Cena, it looks like a fun option for gamers who are not on one of the newest consoles.

This fall will see pro wrestling's debut on new-gen consoles, with WWE 2K15 scheduled to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. I've enjoyed the last couple years of the product, but would love to see a few things be shaken up with 2K's first full development cycle in the franchise. Here's my take on fantasy booking WWE 2K15:
