Why should I post a question here?

Why should I bother posting a question here when I could just as easily email my ta or professor?

If you post a question here, the answer will also be posted here and will therefore be available to other students who might have the same question.  This will save a lot of time since (hopefully) the same question will not be asked multiple times. Also, since your prof prefers to use a community discussion board like this one to answer questions about the class, posting your question here will usually result in a shorter response time.

One reason is that it is convenient to ask/answer questions in a forum where everybody can view the post and hence spread the knowledge.
