mahendran,
A number is applicable for Ferrous material only not for Non ferrous material hence alloy 600 does not have .Please refer Section IX .

Generaly A number  for Filler metal only according to their chmical composition, In your case A number for ERNiCr3 filller wire is 8.

Dear Mahendran
As per your requirements is filler metal group, A  number is  8 for the chemical composition for the ferrous material as per ASME SEC IX.
But ASME SEC 2 Part C  (2004) SFA-5.14  Refer A 7.2 ERNICR-X Classification.
in addition ASME SEC 2  Part B, SB-166 Your UNS number meet UNS 06600.
Specification for NICKEL -CHROMIUM-IRON ALLOYS ( Rod,Bar,Wire)
check your requirement is Ferrous or Non ferrous.
This is for your information,

Best regards.

ERNiCR3 cannot be A No 8. First of all its non ferrous material & Ni% is more is this case (67%min)

Mr. Mahendran,

Please refer QW 442. in ASME Sec.IX. A table is provided for 'A' numbers. See the heading ' Classification of Ferrous Weld Metal Analysis for Procedure Qualification' . It gives the weld metal chemical composition of ferrous materials. Since ENiCrFe-3 is a non ferrous consumable (For base metal UNS number coming under ASME Sec.II, Part B) the mentioned A number will not be applicable.

If you are looking the A number for WPS/PQR qualification, you can put that column ' N.A'.

Regards,

Hi all,
Refer QW-422 ,if you use A-number 8 will be for Stainless steel .Ther is No A
number for Nickel alloys . You can match the composition in the Table QW-422

A-No is only for steels and not applicable for non-ferrous alloys
