Dear All,

Is there any technical term called 'Dollymix' in pipeline welding?

I searched lot of literature but all efforts are in vein.I found that
many contractors WPS says 'Dollymix' progression !!!

Root pass uphill and remaining downhill called dollymix or root and
hot pass uphill and remaining downhill called dollymix? Is it a local
terminology or worldwide accepted one?

Regards,

Limesh

Dear Limesh,,

It is called dolly mix because first pass is uphill and remaining pass
are downhill,

moslty qualified as WPS-02. Dollymix is often has more strength than
downhill welding.

Dear Sir,

Good morning,

Yes it is correct in AWS D1.1 it was writen clearly. and mainly this kind of down hill position used in 6GR position for offshore pipe line structure, and even ABS, DNV also mentioned about this, mainly to controll the heat in put parameters on parent metal and as well as weld pool.

Thanks
