SG Iron Welding

Hi All,

Can any body Suggest me the welding of S.G.Iron (EN-JS 1025 / ASTM A 395) ?

Pl mention the standard,Filler Materila details & procedure.

Hi

S.G Cast iron is defined as a high carbon containing, iron based alloy in which the graphite is present in compact, spherical shapes rather than in the shape of flakes, the latter being typical of gray cast iron .
Spheroidal graphite cast iron, are sometimes referred to as ductile iron OR Nodular iron also.

You can use the following M&R electrode for welding S.G Iron:

1) L&T Eutectic make - XUPER 2240
It is a ferro-nickel electrode and similar to ENiFeCI specs.
Polarity: AC/DC -
It has excellent machinability.
Complicated parts may require preheat upto 300 degree C.
Use short arc, peening, stringer beads and slow/retarded cooling.
