Clarification between ASTM A578 Level II and Appendix C & EN10160 EISI

Hope you are in good health!

 

Please provide your guidance/suggestion to the following:

1.       Client Requirement- Automatic ultrasonic examination of all plates is required in accordance with ASTM A578 Level II and Appendix C

Manufacturer Reply- Automatic ultrasonic examination of all plates will be accordance with ASTM A578 Level B

2.       Client Requirement- Automatic ultrasonic examination of all plates is required in accordance with ASTM A578 Level II and Appendix C

Manufacturer Reply- Automatic ultrasonic examination of all plates will be accordance with EN10160 EISI

Please provide us your kind feedback on urgent basis.

Hi,

The only statement that makes sense to me is -

manufacturer Reply- Automatic
ultrasonic examination of all plates will be in accordance with ASTM A578 Level B.

ASTM A578 has 3 different acceptance criteria, Level A, B & C.

ASME Sec VIII Div 2, par 3.3.3 requires ASTM A578 Level B for Plate thickness >= 50mm.
