G'day,

I am qualifying below procedure to be PWHT'd at 3 hrs and impact tested @ -46 deg C, please share your opinion of passing the testing:

Mat A: A333 Gr 6
Mat B: A350 LF2
Dia: 300NB
Thk: 33.32mm

GMAW-STT: ER70S-6
FCAW: E71T-1M12JM H8

Hardness: 250 HV10 max.

I am aware that ER70S-6 is only tested to -29 deg C and flux wire to -40 deg C, and i am trying to replace the STT wire with ER80SD2, but difficult to get them in given timeframe.

Thanks.

Hi Manpreet,

Applying PWHT after welding will improve your weld and HAZ toughness to the level you need.
I have done this successfully before using low heat input pulsed-MIG (ER70S-6).
GMAW-STT works just the same (even better) and you will be all right.

Best Regards
