Dear Experts,

ASME Sec.VIII Div.1 Tbale U-3 refers to some older editions of standards for which the latest editions are available.

For eg: SNT-TC-1A latest edition is 2006. However, Table U-3 refers to 2001 Edition.

1. Is it acceptable to use latest standards?

2. If Yes, then, do we have any interpretaion for this?

Thanks,

Dear Dokku

The standards and their editions as listed in table U-3 are mandatory. They could vary from section to section.
Espacially for the SNT/TC/1A, the section VIII div 1 refers to older editions (when you compare the various editions and addenda´s), whilst section I refers to newer editions of this standard.

Regards

I was referring to ASME VIII Div.1 Edd.2007 Add.2009. However, the previous reference for SNT -TC-1A was an example only.

In ASME Sec.VIII Div.1 Edd.2010.: ASME B16.5 of 2003 Eddition & ASME B16.47 Eddition 1996 is referred. Latest available is ASME B16.5 2009 Edition & ASME B16.47 2006 Edition.

Dear Ajay,

I think you need to comply with the 2001 edition, but in some cases what happens is that client specification ask to comply with latest edition (ex. 2006) and codes ask for 2001, so u need to full fill both the edition requirements by finding which one is the stringent one.
