Dear all  
              Plate welding 75 mm to 50 mm T joint how to calculate minimum fillet  weld size as per AWS D1.1 8 mm minimum 
8 mm is adequate please guide me .how to calculate fillet weld size any other standard please share the details

  • Joint Type: T-joint

  • Plates: 75 mm and 50 mm thick plates

  • Weld Type: Fillet weld on both sides (assumption unless stated otherwise)

  • Loading: Static or dynamic? AWS D1.1 differs for each.

You haven’t specified loading type, so I’ll assume static loading (common for most structural applications unless otherwise stated).

Minimum Fillet Weld Size per AWS D1.1 – Table 5.8

This table gives minimum fillet weld sizes based on thicker part in the joint:

Thicker Part (mm)Minimum Weld Size (mm)
Over 38 to 508 mm
Over 50 to 6310 mm
Over 63 to 7511 mm
Over 75 to 10012 mm
