Ultimet alloy welding

Dear All,

We are having a FCC unit where "Ultimet alloy-1233" is used in scrubber nozzles. It is observed severely eroded from the internal and external surface. It is presently having a pump volute design with casting.

Request to kindly guide on how to carry out weld build-up/ application of overlay patch on such cobalt rich metallurgy.

It is possible to provide a case hardened material for such high erosive applications?

Hi

This alloy is difficult to repair. The eroded area should be uniformly ground and made free of cracks first.

Following that the  damaged area has to be built up with matching filler conforming to the original deposit. You may use austenitic buffer layer, if the deposit requires multiple layers of build-up.
