Unlisted Materials welding AWS D1.1

[aneesh]

1. Can we do the unlisted materials( EN materials) welding by a
welder who qualified in Group 2 material as per AWS D1.1?
2. The D1.1 says unlisted materials shall be qualified by Qualifcation
( point 4.7 D1.1 2004) so we can't use prequalified WPSs for unlisted
materials, write?

Please advice...

Cl:4.7 discuss about the WPS not the WQT.

 

Check the table 4.11, which says, material group is non-essential variable as per AWS D1.1.

As per 3.3 of AWS D1.1, prequalified WPS is applicable for listed materials only. 

As per Table 4.12, Base material is not an essential variable for welder qualification
