Calibration of Viewer for interpretation of Radiography film

Dear Sir,

As per technically, Is Calibration of radiography film viewer need/requirement for interpretation of  radiography film as per ASTM section V article 2, T-234 ASTM 1390-12,ASTM E 1742 ?

Please advise in this concern.
