Dear Experts,

Any Special requirements of welder qualification for weld cladding materials?

(Stainless steel, copper alloys & Nickel based alloys)

Please explain Sec-IX and reference.

Please find below portions from ASME Sec.iX regarding Welder Qualification.

Salient portions as below.

1. Welders welding weld overlay cladding/clad restoration shall be qualified as ASME Sec.IX QW 381.

2. Specimen requirement and testing as per QW 381.2

3. Base Metal (Substrate) thickness qualification and testing requirements as per QW-453.

4. Essential variables for welders and welding operators for each process as per QW-350 and QW -360 is also applicable for weld overlay.
