Welder qualification without/with backing

Hi expert

How a welder qualified in a single full penetration joint without backing can also weld in a joint with backing (double V or U) and vice versa in SMAW process? Can you put a specific section?

what is your code of construction? if it is ASME BPV Sec IX, refer QW433

Hi,

If you are qualifying welder in accordance with ASME sec ix, Welder can weld with backing even if one is not qualified with backing, for Welder Qualification, Deletion of Backing is essential variable not addition of Backing.
