Dear All
Regarding above mentioned subject, i would like to know the permissible limit of out of roundness for piping(straight pipe) because one of  our new spool found dented during fabrication. For vessel it clearly stated on ASME VIII div. 1 UG-80 but for piping B31.3 not. Only clause 332.2.1 bend flattening i found and guess related. Can i use 332.2.1 or UG-80 as a acceptance criteria. Please help me my friends. Your kind help is highly appreciated

Yes, it shall not exceed 1.5% of OD as per Clause 10.2.1 of ASME SA
530 (specialised CS and AS tubes)
Also refer Clause 8.2.1 of ASME SA 450 (CS, AS, SS tubes) which will
give you 0.5mm for less than 1inch and 2% of the OD for above 1inch.
Please choose based on your requirement
Thanks

Good afternoon,

I need to check the soundness of the W3 weld as indicated in the attached drawing extract by using UT as per client’s requirement. Can someone guide me if it is possible, and if it is possible, then can someone tell me how.

This is a 4” nozzle to shell weld with RF pad welded on it.

Regards

Rajneesh

ASME 31.3 is silent about the subject , if you refer to API 5L , limit is specified clearly but it again depends under which codes are you working

Thanks & Best Regards,

Rajaneesh,
Please take it on a word format file and give dimensions, identify N1 also. Then comments can be given on the figure itself.

Hello Rajnish, i do agree to the suggestion one you already have.....
it all depends on the expertise of the UT Operator.
but at the first go, you can check it from from the vessel inside with normal miniature probe, if accessibility is restricted !.
and further with angle probe from the sides for optimum coverage...
